Rarely is such a powerful and beautiful energy experienced as when 24 Caribbean women come together on retreat, united in purpose and passion for the ministries God has entrusted to them. This was precisely the atmosphere from March 28–30 in Soberao, Villa Altagracia, Dominican Republic. Surrounded by lush nature and a spirit of openness, one woman from each of the IBAREDO (Baptist Churches of the Dominican Republic) congregations—alongside the denomination’s women pastors—gathered to pray, dream and collaborate.

The retreat marked the first in a series of events planned for 2025, with a clear objective: to foster growth, learning and unity among the women of IBAREDO. It was a time for forging bonds and laying the groundwork for a ministry team that will serve the women of the denomination with vision and care. Through intentional prayer, meaningful work and authentic fellowship, participants took significant steps toward building a shared future.

This dream, long held by IBAREDO since 2000, is now being realized through the collaborative efforts of CBF Florida, CBF Outreach and Growth and CBF Familia. Adding a special layer of connection, four pastors from CBF’s Thriving in Ministry Cohort for women pastors in Puerto Rico joined the retreat—traveling at their own expense to support, encourage and serve. With hearts full of gratitude, they became a joyful and invaluable team, uplifting the leadership of Xiomara, Associate Coordinator of CBF Florida, throughout the weekend.

We give thanks to God for the dedication and spirit of these remarkable women. This gathering not only marked a milestone in their personal journeys but also in the ongoing story of IBAREDO. It was a weekend that inspired, connected and affirmed a collective call to serve and lead with purpose.
