One of my wound care patients, Atavi, fell on his bicycle and broke his leg. His extended family with whom he lives are well off financially, but did not take him to the hospital despite an obvious fracture. When I saw him a week after it happened, I took him to the local hospital and had the fracture confirmed with an x-ray. They referred him to an orthopedic specialist who said he needed surgery. Now he is waiting for the surgery and in the meantime, his brother told him savagely it would be better to cut off his leg than pay for the surgery and recovery time period. I have told Atavi the clinic can pay for the surgery thanks to generous donations from churches and individuals in the U.S. I have also encouraged him to stay positive and trust God has a plan for his life. He told me with tears in his eyes that if not for the clinic he would want to die, but now he is feeling God’s encouragement. Thanks to donors and the offering for CBF Global Missions for making these moments possible!
