The landscape of calling and ministry has shifted dramatically in recent years.
Traditional methods—matching services at state and national levels, classified ads in publications, a steady flow of seminary graduates—no longer meet the needs of many churches and ministers. While these tools and graduates still exist, their effectiveness is diminished by fewer enrollees, fewer graduates, and fewer ministers pursuing congregational ministry. Called in Context shares the stories of vibrant ministries that emerge when churches look within: at the gifts of their own members, at those in their community with non-traditional callings, and at the relationships that can sustain lasting, meaningful ministry.
Rooted relationships have always been where lives are transformed. As multi-vocational ministers and community-rooted leaders become more prevalent, Called in Context encourages congregations to notice, name, and nurture the callings already present in their midst. These stories and resources offer a way forward—one that values relational stability, faith formation, and the long-term impact of investing in the people God has already called among you.
