Generosity can take many forms—time, prayer, advocacy and financial gifts—and each church has its own story to tell about how generosity shapes community and mission. This spring, CBF invites pastors, lay leaders and stewardship teams to explore that story together through a new Cultivating Generous Congregations (CGC) cohort beginning April 7.

A part of CBF’s Church Financial Health resources, CGC is a highly interactive learning experience designed to help ministry teams deepen their understanding of generosity and transform the way their congregation approaches giving. Offered in partnership with the Lake Institute on Faith and Giving at Indiana University this cohort provides both practical tools and theological insight to strengthen your church’s culture of generosity.

Across four online sessions, participants will explore:

  • How different generations understand and express generosity—from those who give out of faithful tradition to those motivated by impact and justice.
  • The role of authentic storytelling in inspiring generosity and connecting gifts to mission.
  • Ways to cultivate a holistic culture of giving that welcomes every expression of generosity.
  • Tools for clarifying your church’s mission and focusing its generosity where it can do the most good.
  • Creative strategies for communicating generosity as transformative ministry, not just a financial transaction.

The CGC experience helps churches approach stewardship with integrity, joy and clarity—inviting every giver into a shared journey of faith and purpose.

The next Cultivating Generous Congregations Cohort meets online Tuesday evenings, 5:30–7:00 p.m. (Eastern), beginning April 7.
