The people of Venezuela are facing unimaginable devastation following the recent earthquakes that have shaken the country to its core. Families are grieving the loss of loved ones, homes have been destroyed, and entire communities are struggling to recover. In this critical time, we are called to stand together as the hands and feet of Christ, offering hope and tangible support to those in need.
Our trusted local partner, the National Baptist Convention of Venezuela (NBCV), is already on the ground, responding to this crisis. Under the leadership of Rev. Elier J. Romero, they have begun providing hydration and hot meals to rescue workers and victims in Caracas. Today, they are traveling to La Guaira, one of the hardest-hit areas, to assess the damage and determine the most urgent needs. CBF Disaster Response has already sent an emergency donation of $5,000.
Given the magnitude of this disaster, the situation remains fluid, and the needs are changing by the hour. While assessments are still underway, one thing is clear: financial support is the most immediate and effective way to help. Financial contributions enable our partners to respond quickly and purchase exactly what is needed, whether it’s food, water, medical supplies, or other emergency resources. They have these available locally.
By giving through CBF Disaster Response, your support will go directly to NBCV, ensuring that resources are delivered efficiently and effectively. Partnering with CBF Disaster Response also helps alleviate the burden on local leaders, giving them the time and space to focus on the critical work of relief and recovery.
How You Can Help
Pray – Please lift up the people of Venezuela in your prayers. Pray for the victims, their families, and the tireless rescue workers and volunteers providing aid in this time of crisis. You may join a time of prayer this Saturday afternoon (6 PM ET) from a broad network of continental organizations. Familia, CBF’s Latino network, is one of the conveners. You can find the link to the meeting here: https://us02web.zoom.us/…/register/BHhlGyGzTEmIf794rRKcuA
Give – We encourage you to consider making a financial gift through CBF Disaster Response. Your contributions will directly support the relief efforts led by NBCV.
Share – Spread the word about this urgent need within your church and community. Together, we can make a greater impact.
Take Action Tomorrow – Pastors, we ask you to consider holding a special offering during worship tomorrow to support the people of Venezuela. This is an opportunity to unite your congregation in generosity and compassion for those in dire need.
To make a donation and support these efforts, please give through CBF Disaster Response. Your generosity will provide hope and healing to those who are suffering and help meet their immediate and long-term needs.
Let us come together as a community of faith to demonstrate Christ’s love to our brothers and sisters in Venezuela. Thank you for your prayers, compassion, and support.
In Christ,
Rev. Laura Ayala, Coordinator of Global Missions
