Recently, a friend called to ask for help. A relative of hers, someone who lived in the neighborhood near our Urban Farm, had an electrical fire in the house he rented. Fortunately, he wasn’t home, but most of his belongings were destroyed. The man’s daughters were able to find him a new place to stay, but he needed furniture.

Many times, I have found that God is already at work even before I know what I need. When I learned about this fire, I already knew exactly where to look for help. I had already been working with a family, a long-time supporter and prayer partner, who was trying to clean out her childhood home right around the corner. He was able to use much of the furniture from this house, and the donor family was thrilled to know that it was all staying in the neighborhood that they loved so much.
