Mission Bite #234: Gospel in the Garden

Koukou is so excited! Last week he was just another first year carpenter apprentice with three long years ahead of him. Now, he is that and a gardener. Stopping at his boss's road side furniture making stand I struck up a conversation with the shy assistant hanging the back.

Apprenticeship in Togo can be hard labor and long hours. I told him about our home gardens and maybe around the shop there he could put in a few baskets and grow some lettuce and other veggies. He was reluctant to give it a try but on my next visit I brought another young man, same age and they worked together putting in this garden.

One month later he is all smiles and his boss has a new appreciation for him. Pray that our friendship will open the door to sharing the Gospel message of salvation with Koukou.
