"'As-salaamu alaikum. Peace be upon you'" Ahmad and Saif grew up uttering this phrase daily in war-torn Afghanistan, but peace seemed so far away. A minority tribe, they and their families were victims of the civil unrest. Both of Ahmad's parents were killed by the Taliban and he fled to India before arriving in Southeast Asia as a refugee. Saif's story is similar. His father was killed and his brother kidnapped by the Taliban.
In our country, they met Christians and they found beloved community. They found a new family, they found faith in Jesus Christ, and they found peace. In Saif's words, 'I've looked and hoped for peace all my life. In Christ I found a peace I never imagined I'd have.'"
