God did a miracle – and for Christmas! When we were planning our fabulous Christmas party, we set a number of 250 people. This way we could manage all of the gifts and food and activities within the limited size of the church where we held the event. Somehow, the registration failed to close and more and more Afghan families registered. Before we caught it, 375 had registered for this event!

In addition, people came who didn’t register. It was a huge amount of people. However, the Lord had it in his hands. The food didn’t run out like we feared, in fact everyone plus all of our 75 volunteers were able to eat! It ran out just as I went to get my plate after seeing others had gotten their food. It was a miraculous thing! Then, with the presents, we not only had enough presents for the children whose families had registered, but also enough for the many who had not registered. Another miracle – as if the presents and food were multiplied! Lastly, even though it was crowded and a bit chaotic at times, I was comforted at the end that God’s holy spirit had been at work.

The important part was connecting with people one on one. We saw countless Afghans and their families whom we had built relationships as well as new ones we had met just recently. The gospel was shared while the children were in a separate room doing activities. We also gave out not only presents, but because of the generous giving of some churches, we were able to distribute blankets and coats to families who had come.  Everyone left with good cheer and a feeling of love. We are grateful for God’s continued work among the Afghan people.
