The other day I posted something on Facebook that read, “Helping one person might not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.” I really liked it because it describes our approach to ministry in Spain. Some of our colleagues approach ministry at much larger scale which at times makes me wonder if our approach is reasonable.Recently, some friends we assisted during our time in Albacete called to let us know that they were starting a cell group with non-believers like the one we had in our home. It was encouraging to hear that the fruits of our labor were multiplying. It is beautiful to see a new group reaching out to their friends and neighbors.
Another family has gone from requiring assistance to assisting others within the span of one year. Last year they arrived with just a small suitcase carrying as much as they could as they escaped a dangerous situation. Today they have opened their doors to another family and are doing unto others as it was done to them in their time of need.
Reminds me of the story about the guy saving starfish. There were so many starfish and people asked if it made a difference and as he picked up a starfish and threw it back in the water, his response was, ‘It did to that one.'”
