Step BOLDLY for Peace.
We watched them for months. The monks. Walking. Silent. Inspiring.
Texas. Louisiana. Mississippi. They walked. They stopped at churches and community centers, welcomed with warm food and shelter.
Alabama. Georgia. South Carolina. They walked. They spoke only brief words.
North Carolina. Virginia. It continued – this walk of Peace and Purpose and Presence, and all the while I wondered: why isn’t it us? Why isn’t it me and my Jesus-following friends?
In June, in Jacksonville, it can be.
Step BOLDLY for Peace is a walking meditation that will take us across the St. Johns River over the “blue bridge” to Friendship Park and back.

Morning Meditation from 2025 General Assembly in St. Louis.
Meet at the corner of E Bay and S Main on Thursday, June 18, 6:15 – 7:15 a.m.
Their walk wasn’t a protest, and ours won’t be either. Their walk and ours are about becoming Peace, andwe will. “Peace begins simply,” they reminded all who would hear. “It begins when we know how to stop and breathe.”
We will not walk for weeks or months – only moments, and in those moments, there will be peace.
Peace in each BOLD step. Peace in each BOLD breath. Peace as the sun rises over the BOLD city. Peace within, as together we Step BOLDLY for Peace.
