Keisuke is a man is in his early 70s nearing the end of an addiction recovery program. A few years ago, he began attending Kanazawa Baptist Church’s Wednesday morning Bible study as part of the recovery program. He felt so welcomed and interested in the Bible that rather than coming on Wednesdays with other group members, he began to attend on Sunday mornings, traveling over an hour on public transportation, to worship and fellowship alongside more Christians. Though his issues with addiction caused a separation with his family, he has found a welcoming faith family at church.
Keisuke arrives early each week to prepare the sanctuary for worship and chat with friends. He even regularly volunteers as a representative of the church in earthquake relief in his hometown, located about 70 miles north of Kanazawa. When he moved out of group housing last year, Keisuke chose an apartment just a few minutes’ walk from the church. He experienced the unexpected love of Jesus in a time of great need and has become an active part of the church community. We pray for the day that Keisuke publicly professes Jesus as Lord and for the great celebration that will follow with his family of faith.
