Not long before Christmas, Mamáventura, received an email from social services. A young couple had just arrived to our city from another country and were expecting a baby to be born in the coming weeks. They wrote to tell us of their arrival and to ask if there was any way we could help because the young couple had nothing.

The following Sunday morning, the young couple met us at the church and were overwhelmed as we explained the Mamáventura project to them and invited the mom to come with the baby after the birth. They looked through used clothing for the baby and parents that we had on hand and were thrilled to receive a second-hand baby stroller, diapers and a new set of baby pajamas we bought especially for their little one.

As they left, the father asked with tears in his eyes for a foto with our director, Eli. He was overwhelmed with gratitude.
Sometimes, what we offer feels like a drop in the bucket and we wish we could provide more assistance to families in need. However, the tears in the eyes of the father and his gratitude reminded us that we offer what we have, and we walk alongside in community with those God has given us the opportunity to know.
